About Us

Hi—we’re House of Sullivan.
We’re a husband-and-wife alternative musical duo based in Houston, TX. Our story started long before our first release—back when we were teenagers taking guitar lessons from the same teacher. He noticed something kind of wild: Shane had a knack for writing music, and Leah had a way with words. So he paired us up to write a song together... and we never really stopped. That same teacher, Charlie Lair, later joined us as a co-producer on our first album.

We both play guitar and bass—strings have always been at the heart of what we do. Leah writes the lyrics. Shane writes the music. Together, we shape the melodies that carry those words, blending our ideas until it feels like both of us—sometimes raw, sometimes nostalgic, always honest.

We don’t just write songs—we live them. Our music explores the places between longing and connection, and delves into the complexity of relationships. We’d describe our sound as alternative, but more than anything, we’re drawn to emotional honesty. Whether it's stripped down or full-band, we’re always chasing the feeling that made us start doing this in the first place.

Our newest song, “Fever” is about the emotional tug-of-war that happens when you're reaching for someone who’s pulling away. Before that, we released “Be Someone” about the quiet tension of not quite belonging, and “Firefly” about following someone into the unknown—even when you’re not sure what you’ll find.

In 2024, we started recording our debut album, Wire Sessions, at Wire Road Studios in Houston. These songs were born in notebooks and late-night demos—quiet ideas shared between the two of us when no one else was listening. But in the studio, they started to take on a new energy. We tracked vocals, experimented with arrangements, and let each song evolve into what it wanted to be. We were fortunate to have Charlie Lair, our longtime guitar teacher and collaborator, join us as a co-producer on the project, helping shape the sound of the album in meaningful ways.

There was something special about hearing them in that space—suddenly, the lyrics felt louder, the melodies clearer. What started as something small and personal turned into something fuller, more alive. The process reminded us why we do this in the first place.

When we’re not writing or recording, we’re working as lawyers—which means our days are filled with contracts and negotiations, and our nights are for guitars, lyrics, and the occasional existential crisis (the good kind). Music is where we go to process all of it—the hopes, the heaviness, the what-ifs.

That connection to music runs deep—not just in what we write, but in how we first learned to play. We both studied classical guitar for two years at Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University) before transferring and following other academic paths. Leah later earned a degree from Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business in Nashville.

House of Sullivan is the space where all of that comes together. Thanks for listening, and for being a part of it.
